Overall
As a Trustee with responsibility for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) and Safeguarding, you will play a key role in ensuring these values and practices are embedded across the foodbank’s operations and governance. While all Trustees share responsibility for these areas, you will provide leadership and support, working closely with the Foodbank Managers to strengthen safeguarding practices and foster an inclusive culture.
Responsibilities
Safeguarding
- Support Foodbank Managers in implementing safeguarding policies and practices.
- Chair quarterly Safeguarding Committee meetings (4 x 2 hours annually) to review safeguarding risks, policies, and procedures.
- Report safeguarding updates to the wider Board of Trustees, including risks, improvements, and compliance with legal and best practice standards.
- Provide advice and expertise to ensure safeguarding remains a priority in foodbank operations.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)
- Ensure EDI principles are central to board discussions and decision-making.
- Raise awareness among Trustees about their shared responsibility for fostering an inclusive culture.
- Support Foodbank Managers in applying EDI principles to daily operations and stakeholder engagement.
