Overall Foodbank Trustee: Lead for Operations
As the Trustee responsible for Operations, you will oversee the effective management of the foodbank's day-to-day activities, ensuring they align with the strategic vision and aims of the Board of Trustees. Working closely with the Foodbank Managers, you will provide support, guidance, and accountability to ensure operations are efficient, sustainable, and impactful.
Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
- Support and guide the Foodbank Managers in running day-to-day operations effectively.
- Monitor performance of Managers and ensure foodbank operations meet the strategic goals set by the Trustees.
- Work with Managers to identify operational challenges and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure operations reflect the values and aims of the foodbank
Staff Support and Management
- Provide oversight and support for Foodbank Managers, acting as a point of contact between the Board of Trustees and operational staff.
- Ensure Foodbank Managers are reporting their work and time spent in a timely manner
- Ensure Foodbank Managers have the resources and guidance needed to perform their roles effectively.
- Help foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative working environment.
- Manage any performance issues that may arise with the Foodbank Managers
Strategic Alignment
- Ensure that operational activities align with the Board’s vision and long-term strategy.
- Regularly report to the Board on operational performance, challenges, and successes.
- Contribute to the development of strategic plans, ensuring they are actionable at the operational level.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Support Foodbank Managers in adhering to policies, legal requirements, and best practices.
- Monitor risks associated with operations and propose mitigation strategies where necessary.
Ideal Attributes
- Experience in operational management, preferably in a Foodbank, charitable or community-focused organization.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to guide and support managers.
- Commitment to the foodbank’s mission and values, including equity, diversity, and inclusion
