We are recruiting an Assistant Service Manager to join our Wandsworth Hospital Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking to enhance their current skills and experience of leading and inspiring a team.

This team serves our Wandsworth residents on their journey out of any hospital that they are admitted to (excluding from St George’s Hospital). You will oversee the effective management of hospital discharges from acute and non-acute settings, and deliver effective risk management using knowledge of legislation and guidance in relation to hospital discharge and continuing health care. Working with several of our large London hospitals, we are supportive and have strong well-established links with our NHS colleagues and partners to facilitate safe and timely discharges from various hospital sites.

Work often involves responding to a change in circumstances, so the ability to think quickly, be decisive and act calmly is required.

About the role 

You will:

  • Be an innovative and dynamic social care manager with experience of managing people
  • Have strong supportive leadership with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to embrace change, whilst maintaining quality practice and performance
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with Health partners and organisations
  • Deliver effective risk management, with a clear knowledge of legislation and guidance in relation to hospital discharge and Continuing Health Care, to promote well-being and positive outcomes.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A professional qualification in Social Work or Occupational Therapy and registration with SWE/HCPC.
  • Experience and skills in managing people
  • Leadership and Management training/qualification (or willing to undertake)
